Dr. Arumugam’s journey began in 1981 at Seshasayee Paper and Boards Limited, where he held various positions, including Assistant Manager and Assistant General Manager Technical Services. During his twelve-year tenure, he successfully led performance improvement projects and capital projects. He also played a key role in coordinating ISO certifications and implementing World Class Manufacturing programs, showcasing his commitment to excellence from the early stages of his career.
In 1996, Dr. Arumugam expanded his horizons by serving as a Project Engineer at Riau Andalan Pulp & Paper in Indonesia, a subsidiary of the APRIL GROUP. He contributed to their mega expansion project, further enhancing his expertise in project management on an international level.
His career reached new heights at Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd, where he rose to the position of Senior General Manager – Project Management. During his tenure from 2007 to 2015, he excelled in project management, program management, and project control and procurement. He successfully managed projects for esteemed clients such as Hindustan Paper Corporation, UPM Kymmnee, Owens Corning, Dangote, TN Petrochemicals, Hindustan Newsprint Ltd, Nepa Paper Ltd, and Nuclear Power Corporation of India. His ability to navigate complex projects with finesse was evident in his role in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management.
Dr. Arumugam’s academic journey complements his professional experience. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from CIT under the then Madras University in 1980. He then pursued a Master of Science in Applied Operations Research and Energy Management from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science. His academic foundation laid the groundwork for a career marked by analytical acumen and strategic thinking. He further enhanced his knowledge with a Master of Philosophy in Entrepreneurship from Madurai Kamaraj University and a Doctorate in Sustainability Studies from Bharathiar University, solidifying his expertise in corporate sustainability. In 2021, he completed a Professional Diploma in Business Analytics from the All India Management Association (AIMA), demonstrating his adaptability in the ever-evolving technological landscape.
Since 2018, Dr. Arumugam has been serving as a Project Management Consultant to Development Environergy Services KLtd. He also continues to contribute to the industry as a Freelance Consultant, leveraging his extensive experience in planning, scheduling, coordination, monitoring, and reporting.
