Vedic Astrology and KP (Krishnamurti Paddhati) Astrology are two different systems of astrology that originated in India. While both systems share some similarities, they also have notable differences in their methodologies and techniques. Here are some key differences between Vedic Astrology and KP Astrology:
- Zodiac Division:
Vedic Astrology primarily uses the Sidereal Zodiac, which is based on the fixed positions of stars in the sky. It divides the zodiac into twelve equal 30-degree segments. KP Astrology, on the other hand, uses the Placidus House system, which divides the zodiac into unequal segments based on the Ascendant and the cusps of the houses. - House Division:
In Vedic Astrology, the division of houses is based on equal divisions of 30 degrees each, starting from the Ascendant. KP Astrology, however, employs the Placidus House system, which divides the houses based on the unequal segments formed by the Ascendant and the cusps. - Significations and Sub-Lords:
Vedic Astrology places significant emphasis on the planetary significations and the strength of planets in various houses and signs. KP Astrology, on the other hand, focuses on the sub-lords and their role in determining the outcomes of various events. Each house is divided into nine unequal subdivisions, and the sub-lord of a particular cusp is used to determine the results related to that house. - Timing Techniques:
Vedic Astrology employs various timing techniques, such as Vimshottari Dasha, Nakshatra Dasha, and Yogini Dasha, to determine the timing of events and periods in a person’s life. KP Astrology, on the other hand, primarily utilizes the concept of ruling planets and sub-lords to determine the timing of events, along with the use of various divisional charts. - Predictive Techniques:
Vedic Astrology utilizes a wide range of predictive techniques, including planetary transits, planetary aspects, and yogas (planetary combinations), to make predictions about various aspects of life. KP Astrology focuses on the significations of houses, sub-lords, and the ruling planets to make predictions and analyze specific events. - Approach to Remedies:
In Vedic Astrology, remedies are often prescribed based on planetary positions, planetary periods, and the use of gemstones, mantras, rituals, and charitable acts. KP Astrology, while acknowledging the effectiveness of remedial measures, primarily focuses on analysing and understanding the karmic implications and timing of events rather than prescribing specific remedies. - Accuracy in Predictions:
One of the central claims of Krishnamurti regarding KP Astrology is its high accuracy in making predictions. He asserted that by focusing on the sub-lords and ruling planets, astrologers could achieve a higher degree of precision in predicting specific events and timing. However, in practice KP Astrology predictions are around 75% accurate and Vedic Astrology predictions are around 50% accurate. Only the native and God knows the 100%.
It’s important to note that both Vedic Astrology and KP Astrology have their own strengths and are widely practiced by astrologers. The choice of which system to follow may depend on personal preference, the astrologer’s expertise, and the specific needs of the individual seeking astrological guidance.
